The puzzle of a 'Frankenstein dinosaur' whose skeleton appeared to be a muddle of unrelated species has been solved by a Cambridge scientist. The new study, written by Matthew Baron, a PhD student at Cambridge University, suggests that the Frankenstein is the missing link between plant-eating dinosaurs such as Stegosaurus, and carnivorous dinosaurs, like T-Rex. This latest development has given a fresh insight on the evolution of a group of dinosaurs known as the ornithischians - which included Triceratops and Stegosaurus. Mr Baron said the Frankenstein dinosaur was the very first of this group.
